How to ask clients for a testimonial after a booking
Ask on the same day, a couple of hours after the appointment ends, while the visit is still fresh. Keep the email short, say why you're asking, and give two or three questions to answer. Make answering one step, such as a reply to your email. Wix Automations can send this email for free.
The free way: a Wix automation
If your clients book through Wix Bookings, Wix can send the email for you. You set it up once in your site's dashboard, and it goes out when a session for one of the services you pick ends. These steps follow Wix Help's article on creating Bookings automations:
- Go to Automations in your site's dashboard, click "+ Create Automation", and choose "Start from Scratch".
- Pick the Wix Bookings trigger "Session ends". It fires at the scheduled end time of a session. Under "Select which services trigger this automation" you can keep "Any" or choose the services you want, and you can turn on "Trigger once per person" so a regular client is only asked once.
- Click "+" to add a step, click "Delay", choose "Wait for specified period" and set it to 2 hours. Wix Help explains the delay step in adding a delay in automations.
- Add the action "Send an email", open "Create an email" and paste in the wording below. Under "Set recipients", keep the contact from the trigger, who is the client who booked.
- Give the automation a name with the title at the top left, then turn it on.
The emails count toward your Wix email balance. Wix's article on your monthly balance says you can "Send 200 emails a month for free, or upgrade your plan to send more emails", and that custom automations count toward it.
Wording you can copy
Paste this into the email and change the parts in square brackets. A plain note in your own words reads better than a form letter, so make it sound like you.
Hi [first name],
Thank you for coming in today. If you have a minute, would you write a few sentences about your visit? I'd like to put what my clients say on my website, so the next person can read it in your own words.
You can just reply to this email. I'll check with you before anything goes on the site.
Thanks,
[your name]
A blank reply box is hard to start, so add two or three of these questions under the note:
- What did you come in for, and how did it go?
- What would you tell a friend who's thinking about booking?
- Was there anything you were unsure about before your first visit?
- What's different for you since then?
What Vouchnote adds
The automation asks, and the rest is up to you: you read each reply, copy the words onto your page and keep track of who you've asked. Vouchnote is a Wix app that does those parts:
- A hosted form. Your client presses one button in the email and writes on a page, so you never copy words out of your inbox.
- Approval by your client and then by you. Your client approves what they wrote, and nothing shows on your site until you approve it too.
- A widget on your pages that shows the newest 12 testimonials you approve.
- The 90-day rule. Each client is asked at most once every 90 days, and never again after they write a testimonial or unsubscribe.
- An optional, one-time ask to recent clients, which you choose in setup. It covers the last 30 days of bookings, and on Free it counts toward the 20 requests a month.
Vouchnote's email body is fixed, so you can't rewrite it the way you can in your own automation. On Pro you can set the greeting, the sign-off and a question for each service. Free sends up to 20 requests a month, and the pricing page shows what Pro adds. The page on how Vouchnote works shows the email, the form and the dashboard.
This opens Vouchnote's page in the Wix App Market, where you install it.

When the free way is enough
If you see a handful of clients a month and you don't mind copying a reply onto your page by hand, the automation is all you need. It costs nothing beyond your Wix email balance, and every word of the email is yours. The same goes if you'd rather keep testimonials in a designed section you built yourself, because Vouchnote shows them in its own widget. And if your business is outside the US, the automation is the route that works, because Vouchnote is for US businesses only for now.
An app is worth a look when copying replies across becomes a chore you put off, or when you want each testimonial approved by the client who wrote it before it goes on your site.
Wix menu names checked against the Wix Help articles linked above on 2 November 2026. Wix changes its dashboard from time to time, and Solimark LLC re-checks these steps.
