VouchnoteBot is the web crawler that Vouchnote runs. Vouchnote is made by Solimark LLC. If you found VouchnoteBot in your server logs, this page tells you what it was doing and how to stop it.

Its requests carry this user agent: VouchnoteBot/1.0 (+https://vouchnote.com/bot).

What it does

Vouchnote is building a way for appointment businesses to collect testimonials from their clients. VouchnoteBot reads public websites to find businesses that take bookings, so that we can email the ones that might want to try it. That is a sales email, and we would rather you hear it from us here than guess.

It fetches your robots.txt, your home page and up to two pages linked from it, such as your contact page. It doesn't sign in, fill in forms or make bookings.

How to block it

VouchnoteBot follows robots.txt. To keep it off your whole site, add these lines to your robots.txt file:

User-agent: VouchnoteBot
Disallow: /

It also follows any rules you wrote for the name it used before. If your robots.txt has a group for neither name, it follows the rules you wrote for User-agent: *. It waits between requests to the same site, and it waits longer if your Crawl-delay asks for more. It keeps a copy of your robots.txt for up to an hour, so a change can take up to an hour to apply.
